Project Brief: Design a form that will express a frozen moment of time, highlighting the shape and material qualities of the model.

Using slow motion videos of paint on speaker drums as inspiration, I took “Das Rheingold” the prologue of “Der Ring des Nibelungen” (Richard Wagner’s Ring Cycle) and in the shape of a ring, created a musician’s sculpted interpretation of the interweaving instruments, melodies, harmonies, phrases, and amplitudes. I then took the audio spectrogram of the digital recording an created an alpha stamp based on frequency, also bending this into a ring to match the sculpture in the foreground.
