The Visitor

Project Brief: Create an original composite video featuring a human character in conflict.

As part of my Master of Design Technology compositing course, the purpose of this project was to introduce us to matching CG elements to a filmed plate. After presenting my idea of a POV shot, I was warned it would potentially be quite difficult. I think the animation could be better refined to fix some complexities and oddities with the motion-blur, but overall I’m quite pleased with the result. I used Mixamo and Houdini KineFX to blend a few motion clips together to get the character to stagger forward to match the plate, and captured an HDRI of the Miramar Creative Centre’s carpark, matching the strength of the sun light with a directional light.
