Cinematic Tableau

Project Brief: In conjunction with the Simulation Students, create a digital human of yourself and recreate a scene and its lighting from cinematic reference.

My cinematic reference was Blade Runner (1982) when Deckard is questioning Rachel in the fictional Voight-Kampff test. I chose this shot as my main reference because I feel it closely connects with me as I’ve found I lack empathy in situations where I should, and it is interesting to explore as you would never find me smoking in real life, so I’m attempting to create a realistic image of something unrealistic. Jimmy Luo, a student in the Simulation course that ran alongside my Lighting course created all the smoke in this scene. I was required to utilise Houdini’s Solaris context for lighting and rendering this scene.
